Waverly Eyes & CHIC
Waverly's eye clearance came back Normal, which also earned her OFA CHIC! She is genetically clear for everything and passed all her core clearances with Normal and Good scores.

Waverly OFA Heart Clearance
Waverly said PC can't have all the fun and she passed her heart clearance via echo at the Tulsa health clinic!

First Conformation show
The four Goldens and I traveled to Tulsa, OK to show at the Mid-Continent Kennel Club of Tulsa and Natural State Golden Retriever Club shows, as well as run FastCAT. PC and I won our class on Saturday under breeder judge, Debbie Claussen at the NSGRC specialty show. In all the other shows we placed 2nd or 3rd in our class. All the Goldens LOVED running FastCAT! Ayla was unsure of the noise and other dogs barking at first, so she made me run her first run with her. Waverly and

Waverly NA & NAJ!!!
Happy birthday to me! Waverly earned the last Qs needed for her Novice Agility and Novice Jumpers with Weaves titles today at th K9X-press agility trial at DePaw Dog Sports.

Shed Hunting
Ayla, Waverly, and Winger got to try out UKC Shed Hunt today at Black Label Kennels! Winger picked it up right away, and Waverly got it pretty fast. Ayla enjoyed retrieving the sheds as long as I threw them for her, but she was hesitant to find and retrieve them when they were hidden. I bought shed supplies for training, so we will continue to work on it!

Winger Novice Agility Preferred
Winger earned his Novice Agility Preferred title under judge Heather Dickinson this weekend at DePaw Dog Sports in Leander, TX. This title has been 2 years in the making and I am excited to say Winger is finally starting to be able to work in arousal and keep his jump bars up. Waverly picked up another Q in Novice Standard on Friday, so she is now one Q away from her Novice titles in both Standard and Jumpers with Weaves.

Waverly's First Agility Q's!
This past weekend, Waverly and Winger competed in the Capitol Dog Training Club of Austin agility trial. Waverly did extremely well in her second trial ever and picked up 2 Qs in Novice JWW and 1 Q in Novice Standard. Her Standard run on Sunday would have been a Q, but she kept getting distracted by a bar setter that was sitting directly in line with the weaves and was leaning forward with her elbows on her knees. Waverly was intrigued and popped out of the weaves 3 times to

Ayla's First AKC Scent Work Trial!
This weekend Ayla made her AKC Scent Work trial debut in Novice and Waverly made her Advanced debut since finishing her SWN at the GRCA National Specialty in September. On Saturday, Ayla was scared to go into most of the search areas, but managed to pick up a Q and third place in Novice Buried. Waverly decided Buried and Container were not for her, but Q'd in Advanced Interior and Advanced Exterior. On Sunday, Ayla was much more comfortable and qualified in ALL her searches!

2025 GRCA National Specialty
We hit the road to Purina Farms for our second GRCA National Specialty! Winger competed in the Junior Hunt test, WC, scent work, and agility. Waverly got to compete at her first specialty in scent work and agility. Winger passed his Junior Hunt test and WC with flying colors! He went 3/5 qualifying scores in scent work, and had some really amazing moments in agility with Premier JWW and Premier Standard runs that were so close to Qs. Waverly had a spectacular day at the scent

First OFA Results
Although I already knew that Waverly is clear for all genetic diseases based on parentage and an Ichthyosis test that her breeder did when the puppies were 7 weeks old (her dad is a carrier), I sent Waverly's DNA sample to the canine genetics lab at UC Davis. As expected, she came back clear for everything! NC State also recently came out with a new Golden Retriever test for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, so I went ahead and sent DNA in for that one too, and she is clear for HC

Fetch Intermediate
The Golden trio competed in the Greater Austin Doberman Pinscher Club Fetch Test today! We were back at the same location as our Novice Fetch Tests. This time the tests were run back-to-back, which meant the dogs were retrieving 8 times in a row! Definitely a mental stamina test for the puppies. I discovered that Waverly is less like to run victory laps on her retrieve if she has a ball vs. a bumper, so I found some balls that don't squeak at Petsmart and bought them. There w

Waverly high in trial!
Waverly attended her second AKC Scent Work trial and competed in all four elements on Saturday and Sunday. This time she went 8/8 Qs! She completed her Novice Buried, Novice Exterior, and Novice Container titles. She also earned two Novice Interior Qs putting her only one Q away from her overall Novice title! The cherry on top was finding out she went Novice High In Trial on Sunday! She is now: Geronimo's Heart In The Highlands CGC TKN FTN SCN SBN SEN

Waverly's First Scent Work Trial
Waverly competed in her very first scent work trial this weekend! She qualified of 5/6 runs and placed in three of them. After the judge's briefing on Friday, I got her out of the crate to potty and discovered she had a bee sting! Her poor snoot was swollen to twice it's size! I didn't have any antihistamines in my first aid kit, but luckily we were able to find a fellow competitor with some. Waverly ran Novice Containers with a puffy face and managed to Q! By the afternoon,

Scent Work Classes
Ayla and Waverly started scent work class today! Both did super well, especially Ayla, who can struggle with new interior spaces. Once she realized the game was to search for hotdogs, she was a superstar! Waverly took to scent work right away. I see a bright future in this for both girls! Waverly Ayla

Hunt Training!
We went to a new training facility today to try out some group hunting lessons. Winger ran a couple of land singles with two false horizons (a first for him), as well as water doubles. We came away with a long list on skills to work on. Waverly impressed the head trainer with her willingness to pick up a bird without hesitation, but then decided to remind everyone that she's 7 months old and ran a few victory laps around us with the duck. We will need to work on her obedience

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas from Waverly and Ayla! They had a fun time hanging out with my parents and sister while we exchanged presents this morning.

Fetch Novice
Winger, Waverly, and Ayla attend an Austin Golden Retriever Club Fetch Test & CGC test event! All three dogs earned their Fetch Novice titles and Waverly earned her CGC and Trick Dog Novice, too. I was very impressed with how the 6 month old puppies handled this event! Waverly stayed focused (with minimal visiting) in an off leash setting with livestock and other dogs present. Ayla was very brave and handled standing in line around strange dogs like a pro. She didn't spook at
